THIRD FOSTER FAMILY REOPENING CELEBRATION

The third foster family had been shut down for nearly two years, after the resignation of the previous foster parents. It was very difficult to find a new couple as foster parents. Finally, a couple who were known to us and who knew Familia well, agreed to take up as foster parents from April this year. But, due to certain unforeseen problem, they couldn’t make it to Familia.

At this stage Dolly and Pradip who were already working with Familia, volunteered to take up as foster parents. Our plan was to reopen the third house middle of April. But the building required extensive repair, modification and painting. After missing many deadlines, finally, we succeeded to reopen the house on Sunday, 12 May 2013. At present there are ten children in the foster family. Four of these, Sampa, Rekha, Jaya and Menoka, were in the house when it was closed down. Diya is the child of Dolly and Pradip. Deep, Priyanka, Sayantika, Rupam and Ronit are new comers. Priyanka and Sayantika are siblings. It’s amazing how the new little kids have adjusted in their new family.

Most of our friends will remember that Dolly had been in Familia from the age of ten months. Now she teaches music in Familia School. Pradip used to work as a branch manager of an insurance Company in South India. On KC’s request he left the job to help as accountant and farm manager in Familia.

We are extremely happy that we have reopened the third house. We are also proud that, for the first time in the history of the organisation, an orphan child who grew up in Familia has opted to be a foster mother here.

We wish the family all success. Please pray for them.

Front row: Ronit(new), Menoka, Diya(new), Sayantika(new), Rupam(new), Jaya(behind Rupam).

MOTHER’S DAY CELEBRATION

The concept of celebrating Mothers Day on the second Sunday of May is very new in India and it can be said that in a time span of less than a decade, Mothers Day has been a great success.

Children of Familia remembered all the mothers of four different foster families with sincere love.

RABINDRA JAYANTHI CELEBRATION

Rabindranath Tagore, the brilliant poet and eminent educationist was born on 6th may 1861 in Calcutta,India. He had little formal schooling and had withdrawn from the school by the age of fourteen. He was self taught and sometimes guided by his private tutor in different subjects. In 1878 he went to London and studied law for two years, but returned to India without a degree. According to him the prevailing schooling system is defective and cannot favourable influence on his life. So he founded an educational institution based on his own philosophy of life and education at Santiniketan near Bolpur in West Bengal, India. His literary excellence, outstanding Educational philosophy and broad cultural outlook made him popular and famous. In 1913 he was awarded with the prestigious Nobel Prize for his great literary work “Gitanjali”. He also received many honours and awards from different organizations and institutions. It was on the 7th of August 1941 that he left the world.

We had a short programme to remember and respect the great Rabindranath Tagore.
